The ninth hole got its name from the series of "waves" crossing the fairway. Rippling across the fairway from side to side, these ridges can leave even the straightest of drives on a downhill lie. More deceiving is the second shot because you can't see the lake on the right side of the approach, so be careful that you don't hit right of the green, or you will "wipe out" into the water. The green is shared with number eighteen, it's possible for the pin to be positioned anywhere within a 65 yard span. Smart shooters will play it safe to the front part of the green when the pin is cut to the back, avoiding the trees and mounds around the green.
